Kenya, officially the Republic of Kenya, is a country in Eastern Africa. It is bordered by Ethiopia to the north, Somalia to the east, Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west, and Sudan to the northwest, with the Indian Ocean running down the southeast border. Kenya's population of over 31,000,000 is composed of 97% of people of African descent. This group is composed of over 70 different tribal groups.
From Wikipedia.com and Kenya.com Additional Information: Kenya: An East African country with a population of 30 million (in 2000). Nairobi is the capital with about 2.3 million. English and Swahili are the 2 official languages but 61 languages are spoken in the country. There is freedom of religion with much of the population, including leaders, professing to be Christians; however, many are nominal and some embrace tribal religions and Christianity. HIV/AIDS is a concern as in most of Africa. Corruption has been a societal problem. Over ½ the population is under the age of 15. There are a large number of city slum dwellers and over 60,000 children live on the streets of Nairobi.
